A Digital banking project completed at an African financial institution

The primary objective of the project was to digitize most of the activities that take place in a bank branch, including account opening, card requests, and account statement requests. The decision to embark on this project was informed by extensive research which highlighted the financial and physical burdens that customers experience whenever they visit a bank branch.

🏪 eChange

shot eChange

Offline retailers in Nigeria typically struggle with issuing change to customers daily and spend quite a huge sum of money getting these small units of money from the banks. With the pandemic, it became a bad idea for money to change hands.

I was contracted to design the experience for digitally issuing change to consumers. The platform had four different segments:

  • Opting in to use the platform via a banking partner.
  • The merchant (owner/manager) creating/deleting cashiers, distributing the change, tracking the spend of each cashier and withdrawing leftover change from cashiers.
  • Cashier's view to dispense change to consumers.
  • Consumer view where change can be received and used to carry out micro-transactions.

🏡 Address Verification Portal

An Address Verification Portal to be used by KYC vendors. This was completed at a Nigeria-based financial institution after a series of conversations with internal stakeholders and the vendors.

The goal was to make the process of carrying out address verification for newly onboarded customers very efficient.

The home address entered by the user at the presentation layer flows to this platform and auto assigned to a vendor based on location (State and Local Government Area). When the process of address verification has been done (i.e physical visit to the customer's home address ), the vendor comes on the portal to complete the process of either ascertaining that it was either a valid or invalid address with option for visual evidence if valid.
